Literature Text

There once was a boy
In a time gone by,
Who plucked the moon
From the cobalt sky.
On a silver chain
Did he hang it nigh,
And he sang for the girl
Who was passing by.

"Oh boy," said she.
"What a fool you are.
For my cheeks are of sunset,
My eyes wrought of star,
And my hair is as gold
As the brightest noon.
What makes you believe
I would want the moon?"

There once was a boy
On a mountain lone,
Who plucked a jewel
From the spiring stone.
On a golden ring
Did he place it nigh,
And he bowed to the girl
Who was passing by.

"Oh boy," said she.
"What a game you've played.
For my lips are like ruby,
My skin ivory-made,
And my hair is as black
As obsidian tooled.
What makes you believe
I would want a jewel?"

There once was a boy
Neath a shady tree,
Who plucked a flower
From the grassy sea.
In his humble hand
Did he hold it nigh,
And he smiled at the girl
Who was passing by.

"Oh boy," said she.
"Such a way to meet,
For my face is as plain
As the earth is sweet.
Still, if wish you, I'll sit
And we'll talk for a while.
I'll take not your flower,
But give me your smile."
Sometimes poetry happens to me at midnight.

You wrote this yourself? Amazing. It is utterly sweet and shows that the small things are often the best. :D
